Racha Yai

Everyone does not write the names of Thai islands in the same way. Racha is often spelled Rajah or Raya. Phi-Phi Islands can also be written Pee-Pee. For a better understanding of the name of the dive sites, it may be useful to know some Thai words such as Ao means beach, Koh (or KB) for island Hin which means a rock or boulder, Yai means big and Noi small.

Racha Yai offers some of the best dive sites in the region to explore throughout the year, despite a seasonally variable visibility. At the northern tip of the island, two pretty little berries are known for their deep, clear waters and colorful corals. A gently sloping sandy down to 40 feet (12m), providing a good opportunity for snorkeling and diving. But the best is on the east coast where the currents allow a gentle drift dive along a rocky slope covered with an incredible display of corals, which, in addition to the wealth of water, nutrient attracts large schools of tropical fish.
